Have you ever felt like a failure because you just couldn't get into a book? Alas, this is me right now. Head tells me that that's a stupid way to feel. No one is ever guaranteed to find pleasure in a particular book. No big deal.

But *sigh*

I've been reading Code Name Verity for about a week now. When I first read Ana's review, I knew I *had* to have it! She has the. most. exquisite. taste in books. (And music, but that's another story.)

So in this week I've only covered 88 pages. But I refuse to give up on it. And in actuality, it's not that I dislike it at all. I just haven't fallen in love. And I never find myself dying to pick it up. (The "good" side of this is that I've been getting a lot of needed school reading done instead.)

Since Ana's review, I know that Kelly and Heather and Lu have all read it and *loved* it.

As I went to grab the link to Ana's review, I decided to reread her post. And oh yes, I still understand why I had to have this book. I did also come away with renewed hope that I will yet fall in love.

But what if I don't...

Take heart dear friend! I don't think I really fell in love with it until after page 100. Also, it may not be the right time for you. I know you're busy with the house, wrapping up the school year, putting in a garden and so many other projects! You may need to set it aside and come back to it. Don't worry, you and the book will find each other at the exact right time.

This happens to me all the time! :( This is why I tend to avoid books that everyone around me loves, including this one, which despite all the good reviews, I admit doesn't really interest me all that much...

I don't usually feel like a failure when that happens. I figure it either just isn't a book for me, or perhaps the timing is just off. I've certainly had books that I had a rough time with that I came back to later and adored. And others I never went back to. There are special stories out there that are ideal just for me, and we usually find each other. So I'm okay when a story and I don't connect.

Listen to Carl, possessor of wisdom. I've never heard of this book so I read Ana's review. Despite a strong interest in WWII, I wasn't moved to add this to my wish list. It didn't speak to me at this point in my life just as perhaps it's not speaking to you.

Not all books are for everyone…I've been dying to read this one too though! There have been some books in the past though that I so wanted to love and just couldnt :( i ended up giving up on them.

What everyone said! It could just be a matter of timing - but even if it's not and this just isn't the book for you, can't love them all, right? :)

No pressure, but I didn't fall in love with this book right away either. I actually had a similar experience when I first started it. I was slow reading it and didn't necessarily HAVE to pick it back up, but once I got caught up in that was it... Now, that might not happen for you, but that's what happened for me, anyway!
